Bed and Breakfast for Horse and Rider at The Wern, Mid Wales
Our B&B for horses, The Wern, is a family home situated in the Brecon Beacons National Park, in Mid Wales, on the outskirts of the village of Llanfihangel Talyllyn, just one mile off the route of the 3 Rivers Ride, and 5 miles from Brecon. It overlooks Llangorse Lake and has superb views of the Black Mountains. Our horse B&B is easy to find. If you choose to stay in our homely farmhouse for bed and breakfast and an optional evening meal, you and your horse will be totally spoilt, look at our facilities. Good grazing, scrumptious food for you taken in the farmhouse kitchen or out on the terrace, will refuel both you and your horse for the next day. Previous guests have commented on the top notch facilities for horses and the quality of the food, as well as the very friendly welcome.
From our horse B&B there are many rides to be enjoyed in the vicinity on bridleways, open hills and quiet country lanes. The scenery is spectacular and diverse. Even a swim in the lake with your horse is an option. We have explored a series of ‘petal’ routes with our horse B&B as a base, and will provide you with marked up maps and detailed route descriptions, hopefully even the worst map readers will not get lost!. If you get lost we are only a phone call away to rescue you! If you feel unsure about your navigating skills or you come on your own, Lucienne can come out with you for the day on her horse. We have also researched a 75 mile circular ride, The Brecon Beacons and Radnor Loop, starting from The Wern and linked up with 3 other horse and rider establishments to provide accommodation en route. See the 4 day riding route page for details. Our B&B for horses is ideally situated for the 3 Rivers Ride, being one day ride away from the Brecon Beacons Mountain Centre. We can take your luggage to your next destination if required. If you like good, healthy food (with minimal food miles involved) you will love eating with us. Locally cured bacon, lamb from our fields and beef from our neighbour together with our own vegetables and fruit are used in Lucienne’s cooking. If you are daring, Lucienne will cook you a ‘Welsh Breakfast’. Dutch specialties are also on offer. Lovely cakes and a drink are waiting for you when you come back from your ride.
One of our main hobbies is gardening so as part of your stay with us you can enjoy our beautiful and extensive gardens, which we open to the public under the National Garden Scheme. There are lawns, herbaceous borders, a grass garden with an additional sitting area by the bubbling stream, and a woodland walk bordered by the stream. You can also inspect the fruit and vegetable gardens where we grow much of the produce served at the dinner table. |
